Book Club

Article Index

During our annual general meeting of 2008, the committee and a few members agreed on the usefulness of creating a French reading group.

Since then we have acquired approximately 360 books, with 22 members spread over 3 reading groups covering the areas between Casino, Lismore, Fernleigh and Byron Bay.

Below you will find our constantly growing list of books. The books are of recent publications and have been selected for the quality of the writing and the interest of the contents. Many have received an award.

Each group organises itself independently. They decide the place and the time they meet: some every 6 weeks, others every month.

To be a member of the reading group, you must first become a member of the Alliance Française. The annual subscription is $30 ($40 for a couple/family) per year for Alliance Française Côte du Nord membership and $50 for the reading group.

It is possible to be a member of the reading group without belonging to a group in particular. However, from our past experiences we highly recommend that to be part of one of these groups is a precious opportunity to practise the French language and share friendly moments.
